Today is the feast day of Blessed Damien of Molokai (1840-1889), the namesake whom I was named after (rather than The Omen, as some people believe). He was the Belgian missionary best known for taking care of lepers living in the island of Molokai, Hawaii.
I remember watching a biopic of him when I was a kid (but I can't recall which version... see list), and the movie moment I could never forget was when someone accidentally spilled boiling water on his feet and he couldn't feel any pain, i.e. he was already in the advanced stage of leprosy.
I wonder where I could get hold of that old movie....
